Low self-esteem is often rooted in a low self-opinion of the self. It may be brought on by disturbing feelings, such as depression, guilt, envy, anger or shame.
You may have a long-standing low opinion
of yourself or assume you're only worthwhile as a person if you are a success in your love life, financial matters or social status. The way you estimate or measure yourself is implicit in the estimation
of your self-esteem. If you have low self-esteem you estimate your value as low.
Are you using self-rating statements such as:-
I'm a failure
I'm worthless
I don't matter |
I'm not good enough I'm weak I'm unlovable |
Life can be much easier when you realize that you have worth as a person, no matter how others value you.
Counselling will help give you the tools and knowledge to value your uniqueness, accept your fallible
nature and work towards self-improvement.
This will raise your self-opinion and so your self-esteem. Higher self-esteem will lead to a stronger belief in yourself and higher self-confidence.
